North Ferriby VS Beverley Town

North Ferriby Football Club enjoyed a return to winning ways at the Versa Sportswear Stadium, beating local rivals Beverley Town by one goal to nil.

An eagerly awaited Derby fixture between the Villagers and Beavers, in the first league meeting between the two at Step Four.

In a game where we remembered long standing supporter and volunteer, Brian Sugarman, it soon became a keenly contested meeting at the Versa Sportswear Stadium.

Jonathan Dash was called upon early doors, producing a fine save before the Villagers began to settle in to the game and go on the offensive.

Midway through the half, skipper, Jack Walters fired a warning shot to the visiting defence as his twenty yard strike thundered past Leigh Overton’s left hand post. 

A fierce battle between the two teams ensued before the opening goal came with seven minutes remaining until the break; Jack Walters latching on to a fine delivery.

Remaining evenly contested, the Villagers began to progress once again after Mason Johnson made a nuisance of himself, before seeing Beverley captain James Piercy clear away.

The visitors probed but ultimately it was the Villagers who looked the more dangerous, coming closer as the ball pinged around from a Jack Boyle corner, eventually landing in the arms of Leigh Overton.

Ferriby continued their quest to double their lead, with both Mason Johnson and Jack Boyle coming agonisingly close to a second goal for the Villagers.
