Newton Aycliffe VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby Football Club return to the East Riding of Yorkshire with three points, after recording their first league victory of 2026 following a gritty one-all win away to Newton Aycliffe.

A challenging afternoon for the Villagers saw a hard fought, battling and true grit performance shine through as a late Elliott Walker strike claim victory for Ferriby.

With Ossett United fresh in mind, the Villagers began in a positive manner with Arun Jones creating an early opportunity for the visiting Villagers.

The Villagers remained in the ascendancy, and saw a goal scoring opportunity turned away after the match officials flagged for offside on thirty minutes.

Newton attempted a late charge, however, Ferriby’s will and desire fought of their advances, seeing the tie level at the break.

With the weather deteriorating, conditions worsened but Ferriby’s work rate and spirit increased, and a dangerous Ferriby set piece almost saw them ahead.

Rio Molyneaux continued to look a threat moving forward, forcing a brave save from the hosts keeper, but a double change shortly after the hour adjusted the Ferriby dynamic.

Entering the final moments Ferriby’s hard work paid dividends in the eighty-fifth minute. After seeing it ping around the eighteen yard box, the ball fell kindly to Elliott Walker whose composed finish rippled the net.

Deep into additional time, the hosts went all out in search of an equaliser and a fine piece of goal keeping from Ben Bottomley saw the Villagers secure a mammoth display and three points.
