Defeat came for the Villagers on match day thirty, as Ferriby were defeated by four goals to one at the proctor cars stadium, recording only their sixth defeat of the campaign.
After fending off an early salvo from their hosts, Ferriby searched for an opening goal inside the opening fifteen minutes as a searching ball across the face of goal narrowly missed Jack Johnson.
The view of the tie, looked considerably different a mere seven minutes later as two quick goals from Jake Thompson and Dwayne Wiley respectively saw the home side ahead.
Ferriby however, responded and looked to ascend in the tie. A VoldiMbaya strike after thirty minutes raised Villagers hopes and halved the Gladiators lead.
Ferriby continued in a positive manner coming closest from a James Williamson cross that came unanswered seven minutes from time.
A new half of football dawned and quick fire goals from Conor Washington and Cameron Wilson respectively saw the Gladiators ahead by four goals to one inside the opening ten of the second period.
Wholesale change came for the Villagers around the hour and a battle of attrition ensued with both searching for their next goal of the tie.
With the minutes clocking away, ferriby’s defence was called upon on three occasions to deny the gladiators a fifth but ultimately the two sides saw the officials call time, seeing Matlock four-one victors.
