Match Report

North Ferriby VS Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC

Looking to entertain a four hundred plus crowd, North Ferriby Football Club recorded their fourteenth draw of the Northern Premier League East Division after sharing the points with Bradford Park Avenue at the Versa sportswear Stadium.

Securing their third draw of the new year, resolve returned for the home side in an improved performance as Lewis Dennison’s goal was nullified by a fine strike, seeing Ferriby claim four out of a possible six points against the Bradford based outfit.

It was a perfect start to a perfect afternoon as the Villagers took the lead inside the opening minute; Elliott Walker collected inside his own half, delivering a fine cross field ball to the feet of Charlie Clements whose fierce ball across goal found Lewis Dennison at the back post.

Villagers Skipper, Nial Tilsley felt he had a strong case for a spot kick after being brought down inside the area, thirteen minutes in. Much to the dismay of player and fan alike, the match officials weren’t to be on the same page, waving away the Ferriby Claims.

The Villagers continued in the ascendancy, producing some positive, eye-catching football with Charlie Clements coming closest to doubling the home side advantage with a fine strike that was denied by Jack Hall.

With the tie poised to see the Villagers lead the way at half time, a moment of brilliance from the away side saw the game level in the final moments as Adam Haw chested the ball down well, striking the ball on the volley and past Ben Bottomley.

A new half of football dawned with a more battling performance ensuing. Some fine defending from the home side denied Park Avenue, with Ben Bottomley producing a fine save shortly after the hour.

Ferriby ascended once more, with Elliott Walker coming very close from a twenty-five-yard free kick. Lewis Dennison followed up with another promising strike inside the eighteen-yard area, Jack Hall however, proved able to match with a save.

With the minutes trickling away from the tie, both offered some attacking football but it was ultimately a level playing field come the full time whistle as the Villagers now look to travelling to Matlock Town in another important fixture

Starting XI: Ben Bottomley, James Williamson (Adam Porritt 60’), Jack Johnson, Elliott Walker, Niall Tilsley ©, Dom Roma, Charlie Dunkerley (Mason Johnson 60’), Josh Thacker (Tom McDonald 82’), Lewis Dennison, Charlie Clements, Voldi Mbaya (Aris Cunha 63’, Luis McCabe 89’).
