Match Report
Garforth Town VS
North Ferriby
A short trip down the M62 greeted North Ferriby Football Club as they recorded only their fifth defeat of the Northern Premier League East Division campaign following a one-nil defeat against Garforth Town.
A battled performance ensued in West Yorkshire as the defences won the day, but a very late goal denied the Villagers return to East Yorkshire with a point.
The opening salvo to the tie saw a delightful cross field ball find the feet of a travelling Mason Johnson who drove well into the eighteen yard box. Harry Flatters greeted his advance to claim well.
Ben Bottomley showcased his qualities once more with a pair of fine stops as Rinor Ejupi looked to cause a headache for the North Ferriby defence.
With the tie settled, opportunity was briefly at a minimum until the final moments of the half and a late push from North Ferriby, ultimately heading in to half time all square.
A new half of football dawned as the battle of East meets West ensued, and Ferriby’s defensive duties were called upon once again, with a strong interception to keep their hosts at bay.
The tie remained in the balance heading into the final quarter, and Ferriby almost smuggled home a winner late in the tie only to see the ball somehow trickle out for a corner.
Some heroic defending followed as Garforth applied a spell of pressure and seconds into added time a goal mouth fumble saw the hosts force the ball home.
