Match Report
North Ferriby VS
Blyth Town
Looking to entertain a three hundred plus crowd, North Ferriby Football Club recorded only their fourth defeat of the Northern Premier League East Division campaign following a four-nil defeat against Blyth Town.
Come full time at the Versa Sportswear Stadium, a two goals either side of half time concluded a disappointing afternoon at the office for the Villagers
Somewhat unexpectedly, the Villagers were under the coshinitially as their visitors offered an early spell of pressure, earning them the opening goal of the tie.
Ferriby looked to settle their ranks, however, Alex Fil rose highest from a Cameron Gascoigne corner, adding to Micheal Enwere’s second minute strike to see them two up inside fifteen minutes.
The Villgers began to look more structured and came very close to halving the deficit after Charlie Dunkerley came agonisingly close to connecting with Mason Johnson’s delivery.
Dennison looked a man possessed as he danced his way past three of the visitors players, then feeding in Mason Johnsonwhose low strike fizzed narrowly wide.
An obligatory tug of war ensued as both searched for the next goal of the tie, ultimately however, no further goals would present as we headed into break at two-nil.
Despite a fine stop from Ben Bottomley early on, a more confident Ferriby began the half well as they came extremely close to halving the deficit, with some late defending denying them.
The Villagers continued their positive start to the second half, however, it was Blyth that would find the net as Cameron Gascoigne culminated a counter attacking move.
Wholesale changes came for the Villagers as they searched of a goal back, and were denied a goalscoring opportunity after seeing strong penalty shout waved away by the match officials.
A little tug of war ensued once more as we entered the final minutes and Blyth bagged their fourth of the afternoon with three minutes of normal time remaining.
