North Ferriby VS Newton Aycliffe

North Ferriby Football Club recorded their thirteenth draw of the Northern Premier League East Division campaign following a one-all draw against Newton Aycliffe at the Versa Sportswear Stadium.

Ben Bottomley starred in a man of the match performance as Luke Hogg’s early second half goal was cancelled out by a very late Newton Aycliffe goal.

The Villagers offered some attractive, fast one touch football in the opening moments of the half but opportunity on goal was few and far between

It was at the other end of the pitch that Ferriby produced some quality, Ben Bottomley produced a fine double save after ten minutes to keep the visitors at bay.

From there, the Villagers looked to drive forward, searching for an opener as both Sam Aynsley and Charlie Clements lead the hosts best attacking moves

With little under fifteen remaining, Jack Robertson looked to cause Ferriby’s defence a headache and thought he’d fired the visitors into the lead, only to see his effort denied for offside.

Out for a new half of football, and the Villagers couldn’t have got off to a more perfect start, Luke Hogg’s twenty-yard strike rippled the back of the net to give Ferriby the lead.

Josh Thacker found himself in ample space ten minutes in, a well taken strike came but was claimed by Kyle Seymour in the Newton goal.

At the opposing end of the pitch, Ben Bottomley produced another masterclass in goalkeeping to deny the visitors a way back in to the tie.

Ferriby continued to produce some fine football moving forward as both Mason Johnson and Luis McCabe led the way in searching for a second.

With the fixture ticking over into added time, a very late Newton Aycliffe goal denied the Villagers all three points as they’ll have to wait for their tenth league victory.
