North Ferriby
North Ferriby Football Club extended their unbeaten league run to five games after claiming a point in tough conditions at Gateway Park against Blyth Town in the Northern Premier League East Division.
Aside from another point gained, the Villagers continued their impressive defensive form in the North-East, with today’s result handing the Club their sixth clean sheet of the season.
Given the troubling conditions, the Villagers began the game in good spirit as they looked to get right in it with Josh Whiteley troubling the host’s defence from the right wing.
Ferriby played some good football fifteen minutes in as Lewis Dennison’s deft pass through to Josh Whiteley saw an opportunity to open the scoring, a spate of last ditch defending cut the Ferriby winger off.
Down the opposing end of the field, Ben Bottomley’s fine goalkeeping prowess was called in to action, as the hosts themselves looked to get a foothold in the tie.
Ferriby found themselves with the best chance of the game midway through the half as Josh Thacker’s pinpoint cross from the left, caught Josh Whiteley a little off guard only six yards out.
Ferriby remained solid at both ends of field as Ben Bottomley continued his fine form and Josh Thacker came very close in attack, but we headed into the break on terms.
The second forty-five continued in a similar manner as the weather continued to plague the Northern Premier League East Division tie. The wind caught an early strike from the hosts forcing yet another fine save from Bottomley.
Whiteley and Dennison led the Ferriby charge down the other end of the field until change came into effect midway through the second period.
The hosts themselves enjoyed short periods possession as they looked for the one thing the game lacked, however, the Villagers defensive desire ultimately reigned supreme.
Josh Whiteley and Charlie Clements were in on the action late in the half, but time was against the Villagers as the officials blew for time, ending the tie goalless.
