Match Report
North Ferriby VS
Garforth Town
North Ferriby Football Club added to their midweek performance with another fine display at the Versa Sportswear Stadium, defeating West Yorkshire outfit, Garforth Town by three goals to nil in the Northern Premier League East Division.
Ferriby now go a hundred and eighty minutes without conceding as a fine second half performance saw Josh Whiteley and super sub, Charlie Clements secure a second straight league victory.
The Villagers began the tie in high spirits and soon had an eye for goal as Sam Aynsley was on the receiving end of a fine ball in from the left. A well driven, low shot from the winger was eventually claimed by Harry Flatters.
The tie soon offered a little end to end football as both sides searched for an opening. Ben Bottomley looked solid between the sticks to deny the visitors whilst Elliott Walker came closest to seeing the opening goal.
A late smattering of set pieces came and went for the Villagers, whilst some heroic defending from the experienced Dom Roma saw a Garforth strike cleared away of the line as the Villagers headed into the break on terms.
It was a new half of football, and Ferriby’s ascendancy began to show, as a well worked manoeuvre saw Josh Whiteley and Elliott Walker link up, finding Luke Hogg in space within the six-yard box, his header under pressure, over the bar.
A mere minute later, Luke Hogg was back in the action after receiving from Whiteley on the left once again. His strike this time, a little closer. Ferriby were knocking.
Change was afoot in the Villagers camp, and what a change it would prove. An hour gone and the decisive moment of the tie came with Ferriby being awarded a spot kick. Up stepped Josh Whiteley to slot home.
One soon became two as super sub, Charlie Clements latched on to a searching Josh Whiteley through ball. The strike was equal to the set up as he slipped the ball past Harry Flatters into the far corner.
From then on, it was all about game management for the Villagers. A strong showing defensively whilst a continued keen drive going forward, Ferriby obliged to see out their second straight league victory.
