Match Report
Bridlington Town VS
North Ferriby
North Ferriby were handed their second defeat of the season at the Mounting Systems Stadium, despite looking the more sound of the two sides.
Going in to the tie off the back of two hard fought performances in three days, the Villagers began in a confident manner once again with the usual suspects looking to cause trouble.
Sam Aynsley was looking particularly good down the right wing, linking up well with Lewis Dennison in the centre, as a smattering of half chances came and went from the pair.
Midway through the half and the hosts sought to drive at the Ferriby back line, yet the Villagers remained in control, denying the Seasiders at every turn.
With fourteen minutes remaining until the break, the Seasiders took an extremely fortunate lead after Michael Coulson’s cross from the right rippled the net at the back post.
Ferriby were very much unfazed by the and were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet themselves just minutes later, Lewis Dennison’s low shot hitting the post and out of play.
Nearing the half time whistle, Ferriby’s afternoon got that little bit harder as Brid Town doubled their lead with virtually the final kick of the half.
It was a new half of football and a very even affair took hold in the opening moments of the half. Both sides looked to get on the scoresheet but were nullified by their opponents.
Shortly after the hour, Ferriby were awarded a spot kick and an opportunity to alter the course of the game. Lewis Dennison stepped up took take and saw his strike palmed away.
Sporadic opportunity came and went for both during the remaining minutes as Ferriby’s hard work never relented. We now look to go again on Saturday as we host Emley A.F.C, Up the Villagers.
