Match Report

North Ferriby VS Heaton Stannington

North Ferriby held their North-Eastern opponents at the Versa Sportswear Stadium, despite being hampered by another red card in the thirty-sixth minute.

With the Club’s midweek showing fresh, the Villagers began as they meant to go on. An early were awarded an early corner, as Lewis Brass did well to fend of the attacking white shirts.

Heaton searched for a opener at the allotment end, inside the opening ten, yet the Villagers held firm in the defensive duties and were soon back on the attack.

The Hosts felt they were unfortunate not be awarded a penalty kick, as the match officials waved away their claims, as Sam Aynsley went to ground inside the area.

Ferriby looked to turn up the heat, with some attractive football as both Sam Aynsley and Lewis Dennison were in the mix going forward.

Two separate occasions then came for the Villagers, as they came very close to opening the scoring. Both saw a solid delivery from Jason St Juste at the corner post, finding Niall Tilsley.

As with our midweek fixture, the tie went a little off script as Luke Hogg was brandished a straight red card, for what the match officials deemed a late challenge.

Seemingly unphased by the sending off, the Villagers continued in their hard-working manner. All that lacked was a goal.

A late spell from the visitors sought to claim the fixtures opening goal of the game, yet Ferriby relented in their defensive duties to keep the tie all square at the break

It was a new half of football, and a similar story ensued as the Villagers continued to impose their hard-working desire in the opening minutes.

As expected, the tie looked to swing as the visitors then began to apply pressure in an attempt to take the lead. Once againFerriby held firm to deny.

A frequent swing in possession took hold as both searched to break the deadlock. As Heaton came closest midway through the half but to no avail.

Some fantastic goalkeeping from Ben Bottomley late on saw the scoreline remain level, as the Villagers claimed another point on home turf. Up The Villager.
