North Ferriby VS Ossett United

North Ferriby saw defeat at the Dransfield Stadium on matchday thirty-nine following a two-nil defeat against relegation threatened, Ossett United.

The villagers offered some promise in the opening minutes of the tie but were unable to power ahead. An aurora of physicality soon dominated as Ossett showcased their will to survive.

The villages had opportunity through set piece, but Ossett were to deny their hosts. The visitors began to press and came very close to scoring in the thirty-second minute after a lob hit the woodwork and fell into Ben Bottomley’s arms.

Ferriby themselves were unfortunate not to take the lead late in the half after Tom Corner was denied by a fine Alex Petrovic save.

It was a new half of football and Tom Corner was in the action early on, prising the ball away from Alex Petrovic but failed to hit the target from close range.

Ossett’s persistence began to creep back in once more and were awarded a spot kick shortly before the hour. Joseph Crosby stepped up and converted.

A dogged affair continued with Ossett claiming the lions share of opportunity. Ferriby again were provided with set pieces with Ossett eventually clearing.

A steady half ensued, and with minutes almost at a conclusion, Ossett were awarded a second spot kick. Up stepped Joseph Crosby to convert once more.

Whilst mathematically still within a chance of seeing their season extended, it’s down to the villagers to secure their destiny as we enter the final three games and Garforth, Cleethorpes and Heaton Stannington.
