North Ferriby’s game in hand ends in defeat at the Hunters Stadium after a solitary spot kick denied the villagers the opportunity at fourth place.
The hosts sought to open the scoring from the off and went close to doing so within the opening minute.
Ferriby had opportunity themselves after a headed effort sailed over bar before Alex Fletts ranged strike followed suite.
Kirk delivered a good set piece after fifteen minutes that found Danny South, whose headed effort was claimed by Heath Richardson.
Ben Bottomley showed his qualities twenty minutes in, yet at the other end it wasn’t to be for the villagers.
The tie quietened down thereafter, until Pinter were awarded an arguable penalty kick.Jack Boyle stepped up and converted.
The hosts went very close to doubling their lead after a looping header landed atop the crossbar before dropping out of play.
A new half, and as with the opening forty-five minutes earlier, Ponte went close to scoring within the opening minute of the half.
A relatively uneventful half ensued until Ponte began to press once more, with Niall Tilsley thwarting their advances.
Ferriby offered a glimmer of hope inside the final ten, as Josh Thacker let fly with bicycle kick that dropped wide of the mark.
Ponte proved unable to seal it at the death after a prime effort through on goal sailed high and wide.
