North Ferriby VS Carlton Town

North Ferriby see their playoff hopes on a knife edge after salvaging a point against the Millers at the Dransfield Stadium, despite being hampered by controvertible officiating.

Another tensely contested affair saw the Millers ahead after fifteen minutes following a penalty that never was, only for Alex Flett to deny the visitors the points haul in the fifty-nineth minute.

Early endeavours saw the Villagers in the ascendancy, with Flett and Thacker combining, almost setting up the opening goal of the tie in the opening minutes.

The tie soon turned after Carlton were awarded at spot kick despite a perfectly timed challenge from Danny South saw him win the ball. Niall Davie would step up to convert and take the lead.

The goal lifted the Millers initially who almost doubled their lead six minutes later. Ferriby’s best chance came midway through the half after Luke Hogg danced his way through the Millars defence only to see his effort claimed by Felix Annan.

A late demonstration of goalkeeping from Ben Bottomley kept the Villagers in the game with minutes to go, and a few words off inspiration were needed as we went into the break at Villagers 0-1 Millars.

A new half of football and Ben Bottomley’s expert display of goalkeeping was brought into play once again, producing some fine saves to keep the Millars from pulling out of sight.

Ferriby soon entered the ascendancy once more, creating some opportunities through Hogg and Dennison. Ferriby did level before the hour as Alex Flett’s corner fooled everyone and into the net.

Despite the odd endeavour from the Millars, Ferriby’s ascendancy continued as Billy Marshall added to the host teams attempts on goal. Huge shouts for penalty came from the host team as hand ball was evident, but the officials waved it away.

A late spell saw the Millers rattle the woodwork, but Ferriby had enough in the tank to see home a point to keep their hopes alive.
