Match Report
North Ferriby VS
Liversedge
North Ferriby reignited their top five prospects after recording their twentieth league victory of the campaign following a two-one victory over Liversedge at the Dransfield Stadium.
In a tensely contested affair, it was all about the points heading into matchday thirty-five. Liversedge were desperate for points in their fight for survival, whilst Ferriby looked to push on after back-to-back defeats.
In the end, Chris Bolder’s Villagers proved to too strong for the relegation threatened West-Yorkshire side, claiming the points after Sam Aynsley and Josh Thacker recovered the points.
Little came from the opening minutes of the tie, Alex Flett initiated the opening opportunity, delivering a decent ball in from the right narrowly missing debutant, Alhassane Keita.
Ferriby looked the more confident, playing the ball around well, but inevitably found themselves behind after one swift move caught the villagers off-guard and one-nil down.
Not phased by the goal, Ferriby’s ascendancy continued toward the break. Jack Johnson found space but couldn’t hit the target whilst a huge chance went to waste before the whistle as Tom Corner headed to the keeper from a scoring position.
It was a new half of football, but a totally different story ensued in comparison. Ben Bottomley was called in to action inside the opening minute, producing a fine save to deny the Sedge a second.
Sedge produced a second effort on goal but were only able to fire wide off the mark. Change came for the villagers in light of changing the outcome.
Shortly after the hour, the landscape did change as Sam Aynsley levelled the tie after cutting in from the right and curling a low effort inside of the far post.
The tie soon descended into anarchy after a big bust up on the pitch resulted in two Sedge players seeing red and Luke Hogg receiving yellow.
Upon resuming, it was only one way traffic, and the extra men paid dividends as Josh Thacker got himself back on the score sheet to all but win it for the Villagers. Up the Verde Blancos
