Chris Bolder’s North Ferriby secured their nineteenth league victory of the season at Woodhorn Lane after falling to a two-goal deficit at the break.

After an uneasy opening forty-five, Ferriby overcame in the second, seeing three different scorers secure another vital three points on the road.

Despite the opening chance of the tie falling to Ferriby, opening advances went very much Ashington’s way as we went goalless after fifteen.

Minutes later however, Ashington took the lead following a decent move in from the right saw the net rippled.

The Villagers had a handful of opportunities midway through the half to no effect. Ten from time a curling effort denied by Ben Bottomley.

Controversy ensued late in the half after Ferriby caught Catterick off his line, seeing the ball ripple the roof of the net, only to be denied by the match officials.

It was a new half, and improvement was required from the travelling Ferriby, but Ferriby were pegged back after an early Ashington goal.

A response from Ferriby was warranted, and the charge was soon on, Kieron Ceesay manoeuvred an opportunity but was unable to find a plum shirt.

On the hour, Ashington were reduced to ten to change the prospective of the tie and soon after the advantage was taken, Lewis Dennison tapped home.

Ferriby were almost level a minute later after JaedynChibanga narrowly missed a delightful cross in from the right.

Twelve minutes from time and the villagers got their equaliser after Daniel Hernandez nodded home from an Alex Flett corner.

Ferriby’s ascendancy continued to grow and with the match officials posting seven minutes added, it was game on.

Into the seven we went, and Ferriby’s persistence paid dividends after Niall Tilsley scored a captain’s goal, finding the net from eighteen yards to win it. And despite a late Ashington spell, Ferriby held off to seal it.
