North Ferriby VS
Bridlington Town
NORTH FERRIBY 1-0 Bridlington Town
NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE D1 EAST
ATT: 504
Searching for seventh straight game unbeaten and an eighth league victory on home soil, Chris Bolder’s villagers brushedpast a struggling Bridlington Town to secure another three points at the Dransfield Stadum.
As expected, an electrifying fixture ensued that saw Josh Thacker star and score in a dogged affair to ensure the Villagers claimed their seventh home victory of the campaign.
Opening the derby fixture, and the villagers saw the early advantage after Sam Aynsley found Keiron Ceesay who lost his mark only to fire narrowly wide.
Ferriby’s early presence continued as Louis Kirk and Josh Thacker both saw efforts on goal fall wide of the mark.
Approaching the final minutes, the villagers saw another decent opportunity go amiss prior to being kept in the tie after a fine display of goalkeeping from Ben Bottomley.
Minutes later, the tie took a turn for the away team after seeing for Ferriby player, Danny Earl saw red for a second bookable offence.
It was a new half and Ferriby’s control continued and an early second half opportunity should have seen the villagers ahead, however, Lewis Dennison’s strike proved unable to hit the target.
Jack Walters came even closer to opening the scoring after his twenty-yard strike skimmed the wrong side of the woodwork.
The deadlock was finally broken twenty minutes from time after Josh Thacker did extremely well to beat the last man and tuck the ball under Sebastian Malkowski.
Ferriby’s final salvo came after Tom Corner played the ball in to Lewis Dennison who headed over, but really it was all about game management, and Ferriby obliged.
Seeing the potential advantage elsewhere, the Villagers remain in fourth place in the league standings and now turn their attentions to an important fixture at home to Stocksbridge on Saturday.
