Consett VS North Ferriby

Consett AFC 1-2 North Ferriby

Northern Premier League Division One East

Att: 328

Chris Bolder’s villagers battled to a second straight league victory following their return to the North-East as they visited the Belle Vue Stadium.

It proved another close affair following Tuesday’s dramatics at Belper, with Ferriby coming out victors and sealing another three points.

Early endeavours went to the villagers who started well and Lewis Dennison had the ball in the back off the net, however the linesman had deemed the Ferriby forward offside.

As per Tuesday night, the game soon settled with little opportunity coming for either side, the best coming for Sam Aynsley after being played throng Lewis Dennison, again the linesman deeming the Ferriby player offside.

Fifteen from time and the villagers time came, Jack Walters collecting twenty-five yards out, slightly to the left and off went the ball, rippling the bottom left corner.

With the half approaching it’s conclusion, the hosts began to press, however once again a strong defensive showing prevailed for the villagers.

It was a new half and despite an early half chance for Ferriby it was very much a solid start for the hosts, however the villagers defence withstood their advances.

The tie, as with our midweek efforts, descended a little in to attrition with minimal opportunities presenting, perhaps the best coming from Kieron Ceesay on seventy minutes.

Fifteen from time and the hosts were denied by another fine display from Ben Bottomley, soon free though, Consett ere level after a deflected strike trickled in.

Following the goal, Ferriby responded and came very close six minutes from time after Lewis Dennisons curling strike was deflected out.

A minute later, the villagers went one better, a fantastic free kick from the right hand corner of the eighteen yard box, fell kindly to Jack Walters who nodded home to retake the lead.

Back in front, all that was needed was game and time management and despite a a little tension from the Ferriby support, Chris Bolder’s men obliged to see out another fantastic three points

Seeing the potential advantage, the Villagers now claim third place in the league standings and now turn their attentions to Bishop Auckland in a weeks time.

Starting XI: Ben Bottomley, , Jack Johnson, Jack Walters, Louis Kirk (Shortland 66’), Niall Tilsley ©, Dom Roma, Sam Aynsley (Mason Johnson 59’), Josh Thacker, Tom Corner, Lewis Dennison, Kieron Ceesay (Matty Dixon 72’).

Unused Subs: Jordan Douglas, Josh Morrall.
