Match Report
North Ferriby VS Ashington Fc
Chris Bolder’s Villagers claimed a second consecutive Northern Premier Leage East Division victory as they hosted Ashington AFC at the Dransfield Stadium.
Tuesday night’s dominance continued through as Josh Thacker starred and scored is a scintillating display to claim their eighth league victory of 2024/25.
The opening moments of the tie saw Chris Bolder’s side begin well, and it wasn’t long before the villagers had an eye for goal. After failing to clear their lines, the ball fell to McMillan who saw his effort drop narrowly wide.
Opportunity continued for the hosts through Josh Whiteley and Tom Corner should have put the villagers ahead inside of ten minutes after a delightful ball found the forward in space, who could find the required finish.
Approaching the midpoint of the half, the visitors took it up a gear and began to test the villagers defence, Ben Bottomley denied them a goal scoring opportunity on nineteen minutes.
Opportunity fell to both sides thereafter, Ferriby being denied by their final their prowess and Ashington by a solid Ferriby defence. And we entered the break goalless.
It was a new half but an improved aurora from the villagers, and within the opening five minutes of the restart Chris Bolder’s side were ahead after Josh Thacker rippled the back of the net.
The villagers decent start to the new half ensued through both wings but lacking and conviction in the middle, that was until a thunderous Ferriby Strike on 68 mins forced a top Ross Coombs save.
Three minutes later, the villagers secured a little breathing space after Josh Thacker secured his brace with a tap in from a delightful passage.
From then on, it was all about game management for the villagers who secured their eighth victory of the season after denying Ashington a way back in.
