Match Report
North Ferriby VS Grimsby Borough
North Ferriby’s weekend nightmare became a distant memory after claiming the spoils on home turf as they hosted Grimsby Borough at the Dransfield Stadium.
A dominant first forty-five saw Chris Bolder’s villagers all but clear by the break, as Josh Whiteley and captain Niall Tilsley starred and scored in a much-improved performance.
The villagers were straight into action following the commencement of the tie with Tom Corner offering an instant eye for goal.
Ferriby went one better on five minutes after a delightful ball from Jack Walters cut the Borough defence like butter to play on Josh Whiteley who slotted home for the lead.
A controlled performance ensued, and the villagers found their lead doubled midway through the half when Josh Whiteley was again played on down the right, cutting in to rocket home.
Two promptly became three, seven minutes from the break and following another decent passage, Captain Niall Tilsley headed home for a deserved three goal lead.
It was a new half, but a different game ensued, with the visitors coming out to rectify their past discretions of the first half. Their first decent opportunity coming after a decent passage out left and fizzed ball across goal.
Ferriby had their first opportunity of the half before the hour, however, the visitors when that step further shortly before the hour, pegging a goal back through Adam Drury.
Tom Corner must have felt unlucky not to cap of his good performance with a goal after seeing his six-yard strike denied by Liam Higton.
The minutes that remained saw the visitors enjoy periods of solid possession yet opportunity lacked with the villagers denying Grimsby well.
