North Ferriby VS Bishop Auckland FC

The villagers unbeaten run fell to Bishop Auckland after their first Northern Premier League East Division defeat in six games at the Dransfield Stadium.

The villagers remain third the league standings following a dismal afternoon in East Yorkshire despite seeing Josh Dennett give the home side a half time lead.

Chris Bolder’s side began the brighter of the two after Niall Tilsley’s soft header kindly fell into the arms of Ryan Catterick.

Josh Dennett saw his twenty-five-yard effort stopped in the twenty-eight minute shortly before Ben Bottomley denied the visitors an opportunity to take the lead.

The villagers continued to look the more likely to score, and that they did. Joel Shortland delivering a peach of a free kick finding Josh Dennett for the lead.

It was a new half, however, a different aurora descended as the visitors were straight to the point and were level after only four minutes of play.

A little nerved, Ferriby searched for a way back in and almost found it through Joel Shortland after his curling effort landed in the arms of Ryan Catterick once more.

Change came for the villagers and very nearly paid dividends as Josh Dennett drove in to the area firing a low shot the wrong side of the post.

From then, despite the hosts endeavours it was very much the away side who searched for a winner and that is what they got with a 90th minute score.
