Match Report
Emley FC VS North Ferriby
North Ferriby’s extended their unbeaten run to four games following a Northern Premier League East Division win against league leaders Emley AFC at the FantasticMedia Welfare Ground.
Behind at the break, an inspired touch from the management team saw the villagers overturn the early deficit as Mason Johnson started and scored to claim a third win in four.
With the game underway, the opening exchanges offered little in terms of opportunity on goal as relatively even affair ensued.
It wasn’t until we reached the halves mid point that the game became a little more open, and ten minutes from the break the deadlock was broken after Amir Berchil pounced on a defensive mistake.
The villagers were handed a late first half opportunity to level the score line after a perfectly weighted cross in from the left found Jack Walters at the back post, but it wasn’t to be.
It was a new half, but a different aurora endured. The initial minutes saw Emley press for a second but were unable to break down the visitors back line.
Then came the defining moment of the tie as change was made. A different dynamic began to seep into the visiting team thereafter and far better play ensued.
An opportunity to level came shortly after the hour when Josh Dennett latched on to a delightful Josh Whitley cross to head over the bar. Your could sense goals were coming.
Then entered magic Johnson in the sixty-fifth minute and after eight minutes on the pitch, Ferriby were level after taking the final touch from a Niall Tillsley effort.
As we’d previously seen away at Dunston UTS, we’d see again here at Emley. Three minutes after pulling the villagers level, Mason Johnson would break and fire the visitors in to the lead with a well taken effort.
Tensions began to rise in the ferriby camp as the minutes ticked away, and with the added pressure the home side offered late on it was a spectacle as the full time whistle sounded.
