Match Report
North Ferriby VS Belper Town
The villagers were dealt their second defeat of the season after hosting Derbyshire outfit, Belper Town in a sunny afternoon at the Dransfield Stadium.
A well-executed opening forty-five from the visitor’s proved enough to continue their lead atop the Northern Premier League East Division table.
A small matter of ninety seconds and Belper were ahead after Harry Draper rippled the back of the net and it was evident that the visitors were worth their top of the table status.
A mere minute later and Belper were ever so close to doubling their lead after flashing the ball across the face off goal, only to see their endeavours tickle out.
Much to the dismay of onlooking management, the villagers were forced into an early change with Tom Corner succumbing to injury. Mason Johnson replaced.
A mere fifteen on the clock and an uncharacteristic mistake from Niall Tilsley handed the visitors an opportunity on goal. Ferriby were fortunate in seeing the effort fire out of play.
The hosts saw their opening opportunity come from Mason Johnson shortly before Jack Walters was handed a booking for a seemingly soft challenge.
With Ferriby seemingly gaining a little ground, Belper found their second of, ten minutes from time. Nathaniel Crofts led a Belper break, lobbing Jordan Douglas from thirty yards.
It was a new half, but a different aurora approached the second forty-five, the Villagers appeared a more content prospect and held the visitors in the opening exchanges.
Opportunity wise, it was indeed the villagers that took the lions share and saw their best chance yet ten minutes from time, after Sam Aynsley spearheaded at counter only to be thwarted at the last second.
The final minutes saw the villagers come extremely close. Both coming from corners, one saw a headed effort dip just over the bar, the second rattled the bar before being cleared away from danger.
