Match Report
North Ferriby VS Heaton Stannington FC
North Ferriby’s Northern Premier League East Division return ended in honours even at the Dransfield Stadium after a tight encounter with Heaton Stannington.
A late Mark Ellison own goal cancelled out his stunning goal earlier in the second forty-five, but it was the defensive prowess that took the day with Niall Tilsley claiming Man of the Match.
In a game that offered little, Chris Bolder’s side perhaps offered the brighter of starts in East Yorkshire, a Josh Whiteley/Mason Johnson combo offered the best opportunity midway through the opening half.
Heading into the break the tie offered that of a goalless draw, but once again the opposition started the second forty-five on the front foot with Ferriby a little lacking.
It was evident that something special would break the deadlock, the specialty coming from Heaton Stannington on the hour after an absolute peach of a goal from Marc Ellison.
The hosts had the opportunity to level the tie from the spot minutes later after seeing Sam Aynsley brought down in the area. Josh Whiteley stepped up but saw his strike saved.
The tie soon descended back into that, that was offered in the opening half. With the minutes trickling away, an own goal from Marc Ellison seemingly salvaged a point for the hosts.
