North Ferriby VS Sherwood Colliery FC

The Villagers opened their Northern Premier Leage East Division home campaign in victorious fashion after a tale of two halves.

Tom Corner, Jack Walters and Josh Whiteley all starred and scored in an entertaining evening in East Yorkshire claimingtheir first three points of 2024/25.

The villagers took to the game from the get-go in continuous fashion from Saturday’s opening day defeat with Tom Corner coming close after just three minutes.

Not one, but two goals followed soon after as Jack Walters and Tom Corner secured the villager a two-goal lead inside of ten minutes.

The fine start from the host didn’t let up with Ben Bottomley only having to produce a decent stop midway through the half to deny a fast-paced Sherwood Colliery.

Another fine stop came from the villager’s young keeper towards the break only to be bested by a third villager’s goal and a fine strike from Josh Whiteley.

As the final minutes concluded, the villagers were cruising into the break only to see their lead reduced with a late goal from the visitors.

It was a new half but a different story, and Sherwood claimed the lions share of opportunities and looked the better of the two sides.

Chris Bolder’s side soon restored some composure and proved a sound barrier to deny the visitors any further goals.

The tie soon took a turn towards the death as Club skipper, Niall Tilsley was given a dubious red card prior to the ninety.

A late penalty and a second yellow card saw Tom Corner receive a second dubious red and a second Sherwood goal, however the villagers were sound enough to see the tie out.
