Match Report
Ashington Fc VS North Ferriby
North Ferriby’s season came to an end with a 2-0 defeat at Ashington. Amir Berchil caused the hosts some issues out wide. The tricky winger beat his man before producing a well delivered cross. Ashington goalkeeper Ross Coombe was on hand to deal with the potential danger. The hosts took the lead on the 14th minute through Andrew Cartwright. Cartwright’s shot found its way into the far corner and past Tom Jackson. The Villagers had a heart in mouth moment when a shot fired off their bar.
The Villagers looked to get back into the game in the second half and produced some lovely football. Harry Lovick saw his cross into the area blocked after a pleasing passage of play. Tom Corner nearly levelled the scores when a powerful shot was well saved by Coombe. Matty Dixon’s well delivered free kick was met by the glancing head of Josh Whiteley but unfortunately for the visitors, his effort went agonisingly wide. The hosts would double their lead with around 20 minutes left, Daniel Maguire the goalscorer. The Villagers would try and get back into the game. McCauley Snelgrove tried his luck from range, but his effort was dealt with by Coombe.
A disappointing end to the season for the Villagers but they can take plenty of heart for how they have adapted to their new level of football. Chris Bolder will be happy to have secured an eighth-place finish in their debut season.
