Ossett United VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby FC suffered a 1-0 defeat at Ossett United on Saturday. The Villagers fell to a first half Alex Peterson effort. The Villagers kept going and found themselves close to equalising several times in the second half but found themselves denied by a resolute Ossett defence.

It was a quiet start to the first half with the Villagers looking to find a breakthrough. Bolder’s side had plenty of the ball in the opening period but found the Ossett defence hard to break down. The Villagers put a couple of crosses into the area which weren’t capitalised on.

The Villagers were left to rue not making use of the possession as the hosts took the lead. An Ossett cross was headed back to Alex Peterson by his own man and the Ossett attacker hit an impressive volley past Tom Jackson.

The Villagers looked to pull themselves level and came close with an Adam Bolder volley from the edge of the area which was saved down low by Callum Hiddleston.

The Villagers continued to look for an equaliser in the second half and came close through Josh Whiteley. The energetic attacker ran with the ball at his feet before hitting a shot over the Ossett bar.

The hosts came close to adding a second but a good save from Tom Jackson denied Adam Priestley.

Danny Earl made an exciting run forward as the Villagers looked to counter. Only some good defending from the hosts could deny Earl finding Luke Hinsley at the far post.

Somehow the ball did not end up in the Ossett goal after a goal line melee. Harry Lovicks low effort was blocked as was Amir Berchil’s. Luke Hinsley looked destined to level but also saw his effort blocked for a corner.

The hosts came close to adding a second with Peterson’s volley just going over the bar.

Levi Tarbotton got on the end of Josh Whiteley’s cross but was denied by a last gasp save from Hiddleston. Danny Earl’s follow up was cleared off the line.

The Villagers came close to an equaliser when Jack Johnson’s header in stoppage time was denied by the post. The hosts then cleared the immediate danger.
