North Ferriby FC got back to winning ways edging a thriller 3-2 against Consett. The Villagers were 2-1 down with less than ten minutes to go but a sensational comeback saw them win it in stoppage time.
Consett took an early lead when Niall Tilsley committed a foul in the box. Charlie Watt took responsibility for the ensuing penalty and made no mistake sending Harry Fisk the wrong way. Despite the early setback Ferriby grew into the game and after frustratingly seeing Josh Whiteley’s low shot hit the post they equalised just before the half time whistle as Tom Corner headed home a sublime cross from McCauley Snelgrove.
After an even start to the second half Wil Shaw put the visitors back in front, tapping home unmarked at the back post after a good low cross from the right. Despite this setback it was Ferriby who got onto the front foot and pushed for an equaliser. Just when it looked like they may be frustrated they found a goal through substitute Jack Johnson. A corner from the right was headed on by Levi Tarbotton, the Consett clearance went straight up in the air and Johnson was on hand to head home from a narrow angle to make it 2-2.
The Villagers had their tails up now and kept pushing for the winning goal. Tarbotton and Earl caused Consett huge problems down the right and Ferriby kept knocking at the door. Finally in the 92nd minute they got the winning goal they deserved. A cross was met by Tom Corner who flicked a header on towards the back post and Tarbotton was the quickest to react powering a header into the top corner to give Chris Bolder’s Villagers a brilliant comeback win.
