Pontefract Collieries VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby suffered a 4-1 defeat at Pontefract on Saturday. The Villagers came into the game with their play-off chasing rivals knowing a win would go a great way to boosting their play off hopes.

The Villagers found themselves under siege early from a few Pontefract throw ins. Full back Jack Greenhough launched them all into the area, but the Villagers dealt with the threat well.

The Villagers found themselves threatening after five minutes. Josh Whiteley found space down the left before finding McCauley Snelgrove who's cross found Amir Berchil who was unable to control the ball.

The hosts took the lead on the seventh minute when Louie Charlton fired in a left footed finish from outside the area.

The hosts added a second from a long throw in. The initial header hit the bar before falling onto the line. Pontefract’s Connor Smythe was there first to poke home.

The Villagers looked to get back in the game and Tom Corner saw a shot from outside the box deflect off a Pontefract defender and into the hands of Lloyd Allinson. Levi Tarbotton tried his luck from distance but saw his strike go over the bar.

The hosts added a third when Connor Smythe added his second of the game. A corner into the Ferriby area went to Smythe at the back post who finished.

The Villagers pulled one back when Amir Berchil finished smartly at the front post after good build play from the visitors ended with Josh Whiteley playing Berchil into a great position.

Any chance of the Villagers pulling off a comeback were ended when Oli Metcalfe found space and finished at the front post.
