Match Report
North Ferriby VS Pontefract Collieries
North Ferriby FC bounced back from Saturday’s defeat with a 1-0 win over promotion chasing Pontefract Collieries. The Villagers put in a robust, determined defensive performance to earn the three points.
The Villagers started bright and nearly took the lead through the energetic Josh Whiteley. The pacey winger was sent through and was denied by a good save from Lloyd Allinson.
Whiteley was in the thick of the action again and played a dangerous ball across the goal. Unfortunately for the Villagers, no one was there to apply the final touch.
Tom Jackson produced a great save down low to deny the visitors.
Whiteley played another dangerous ball into the area and a pivotal touch from a Pontefract defender denied Amir Berchil a great opportunity to open the scoring.
Substitute Tom Corner nearly made an immediate impact as he saw his header cleared off the line from a well delivered corner.
The game's only goal came courtesy of substitute Danny Earl. Earl beat the Pontefract defender for pace before hitting a shot that wriggled under Allinson and found its way into the net.
Chris Bolder’s side put in a monumental effort defensively for the last fifth-teen minutes. They managed to see the game out and earn a crucial three points as they close in on the play off spaces themselves.
