Match Report
North Ferriby VS Bridlington Town
By Dan Tomlinson
North Ferriby returned to winning ways with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Bridlington Town on Boxing Day. The Villagers were behind after three minutes, but goals from Josh Whiteley, Tom Corner, and Danny Earl sealed a much deserved three points.
With a crowd of 720 inside the Dransfield Stadium, the game sprung into action from the opening kick off. Bridlington were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position, with Jack Walters finding the net from the resulting strike.
However, Ferriby wasted no time in getting back on level terms. They pressed forward and were soon awarded a stonewall penalty for handball. Josh Whiteley, one of a dynamic front three for the home side, made no mistake levelling the Villagers up with a venomous strike.
Ferriby, who had one or two chances before the break, kept up the intensity in the second half and got their reward as Tom Corner’s calm finish found the bottom corner. The striker did well to get a grip of the ball, before turning and firing across the Bridlington keeper for his 11th goal of the season.
The Villagers then sealed their victory in stoppage time as Corner’s delicious pass found Danny Earl, who was a constant threat against his former club. The winger cut inside superbly and fired home with Chris Bolder’s side travelling to Cleethorpes to round off 2023 this Saturday.
