Match Report

North Ferriby VS Atherton Collieries

North Ferriby FC breezed into the first-round proper of the FA Trophy, with a 4-0 win over Atherton Collieries.

The Villagers raced into the lead in the opening six minutes. Joel Shortland delivered in a corner and found Josh Whiteley. Whiteley fired a shot which hit the post. Tom Corner was on hand to poke him from close range.

The visitors nearly levelled when a looping header rattled the Ferriby crossbar.

Ferriby doubled their lead. Josh Whiteley found space down the left-hand side. Whiteley played a great cross into the area which was not dealt with by the Atherton defence. Danny Earl was there to fire home from close range.

Ferriby would continue their dominance in the second half. Star Man Josh Whiteley continued to cause the Atherton defence problems. Whiteley found space down the left side again and his low cross found Danny Earl who slid in to grab his second of the game.

The Villagers saved their best for last. Substitute Danny Clarke raced onto a loose ball and played a lovely ball over the top to fellow substitute Adam Bolder. Bolder was able to slot past Atherton keeper Nico De Freitas-Hansen. The visitors would end the game with ten as Josh Solomon-Davies exited with a head injury.
