Prescot Cables FC VS North Ferriby
North Ferriby exit the FA Cup after a 4-2 defeat at Prescot Cables. The damage was done when the hosts raced to a 4-0 lead just after the break. The Villagers attempted a late rally but fell short.
The hosts dominated the first half. It took just seven minutes for Prescot to open the scoring. A hall through the Ferriby defence to John Murphy allowed the the Prescot forward to advance before slotting the ball through Lewis Exall’s legs.
The hosts continued to press and came close when a free kick rattled the Ferriby crossbar.
The hosts would score their second from the spot. The referee adjudged a Ferriby defender handled. James Foley stepped up and fired high to the left. It would be three before the half. John Murphy was able to find space behind the Ferriby defence and found Francis Smith who fired past Exall.
The Villagers looked to respond in the second half. Tom Corner saw a header go down the goal keeper’s throat. Danny Earl hit a shot that went just wide of the goal. The hosts would grab their fourth when Jack Goodwin cut inside and hit a curling effort that hit the post and went in.
Ferriby would get themselves on the score sheet. A long throw in from Josh Dennett found Oli Donald who put the ball home.
The Villagers were awarded a penalty after a foul on Amir Berchil. Berchil took the penalty himself, but his low, hard effort was saved by the legs of Mitchell Allen.
The Villagers would find a second when Oli Donald headed home from a Danny Emerton corner late on.
Ferriby boss Chris Bolder reacted to his sides cup exit, “it’s a disappointing afternoon for us, we just weren’t at the races, particularly in the first half. We got punished severely by a bright, energetic, hard working team. In the second half we changed a few things and perhaps they’ve taken their foot off the gas, but we started to cause them problems and you never know if the penalty goes in. It was nowhere near good enough from us and we’ll dust ourselves down and go again”.
