Match Report
Liversedge VS North Ferriby
North Ferriby are through to the first qualifying round of the FA Cup following a gritty 1-0 victory away at Liversedge.
The Villagers dug in against their fellow NPL Division One East opponents with striker Tom Corner scoring his 50th goal for the reformed club.
The striker was able to head in Danny Earl’s cross midway through the second half, with Ferriby, thanks in part to two huge performances in midfield from Danny East and in particular Tom Claisse, then showing their character to see out the victory.
The first half took a while to get going. Chris Bolder’s men were patient in possession but no real in roads were made. In fact, it was Liversedge who had the best chance of the half as a header from Joe Walton hit the crossbar.
However, Ferriby grew into the game in the second half and deserved their winner from their milestone man.
They had to show their resilience late on as new goalkeeper Tom Jackson was called into action, making two fine saves. The number one got a strong hand to one driven shot and then tipped a header over the bar with the away team keeping up their unbeaten start to the season.
After the game Chris Bolder spoke about how he felt about the game. “It was a pleasing performance in terms of our application. Our will to defend our goal, our energy levels to stop our opponents creating opportunities is pleasing at the minute.
