North Ferriby VS Newton Aycliffe
North Ferriby FC saw off Newton Aycliffe 4-1 in the battle of the league new boys at the Dransfield Stadium. Chris Bolder’s side scored two goals in each half to get their league campaign off to a perfect start.
The hosts got into the game after a slow first ten minutes and reaped their rewards when they opened the scoring through Danny East. Tom Corner did well to flick a ball towards the Newton Aycliffe box. Miscommunication between Daniel Cameron and his defence allowed Danny East to nip in and lift the ball over Cameron.
It took under a minute for the visitors to level. Good play down the right hand ended with a clever pass into the area. Liam Jarvie latched onto the ball, before firing a low shot past Tom Jackson.
Ferriby would retake their lead when Tom Corner rose highest from a Tom Claisse corner. Daniel Cameron had come for the ball but came nowhere near.
Ferriby would grab their third goal ten minutes into the half. Josh Dennett caught Newton Aycliffe off guard with a quickly taken throw in. Danny Earl was the recipient of the throw and controlled the ball well before striking at goal. Daniel Cameron foiled the Ferriby forward at first, Earl was quickly on hand to fire home at the second attempt.
The Villagers would make it four halfway through the half. Referee Conor Ledgeway played an advantage after Danny East was brought down. East was able to play the ball to Danny Earl who drove on before shooting inside the area. Cameron saved but only as far as Amir Berchil who was able to scramble the ball past the line.
Ferriby continued to impress in the second half and kept pushing. Substitute Keegan Green went close firing over as did Amir Berchil who had a couple of chances to add to his earlier goal. North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder spoke about his side’s performance, “every team wants to get off to a fantastic start. For us to get a 4-1 win today in convincing fashion is very pleasing”.
