Match Report

Rossington Main VS North Ferriby

The Villagers played out 2-2 draw with Rossington Main as they continued their pre-season campaign on Tuesday. The Villagers took the lead twice in the game but saw themselves pegged level on both occasions. Chris Bolder’s side went into the interval with a 2-1 lead, courtesy of goals from Tom Corner and Niall Tilsley.

It was an even start to the game with both sides having chances. Rossington marksman Ross Hannah had a couple of opportunities. Tom Corner came close to meeting a Danny Buttle cross. Josh Dennett came close with a strike that whistled past the far post.

It would be the Villagers who took the lead. Good play down the left-hand side led to a well delivered cross from Josh Dennett. Tom Corner was able to head past former Villager Lewis Hill.

The hosts would level when Ross Hannah found space behind the defence to lift a shot over Tom Jackson.

The Villagers would take back their lead just before the interval. Josh Dennett launched a throw in into the area and up rose captain Niall Tilsley to thunder a header past Hill.

Chris Bolder made four changes at the break, brining on Amir Berchil, Oli Donald, Danny Earl and Josh Morrall.

The hosts would draw the scores level when Niall Tilsley was penalised for handling the ball in the area. Ross Hannah stepped up and sent Jackson the wrong way.

The scores would remain level for the rest of the game. Chris Bolder have plenty of his squad minutes in the legs.

After the game, Bolder shared his thoughts “it was another great workout for us against a strong Rossington side who play some brilliant football. In passages today, I thought we did some really nice things. As usual with pre-season there were elements of teething problems but ultimately, a really good work out for us”.
