Match Report

Wakefield AFC VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby continued their pre-season campaign with a 3-3 draw at Wakefield. The Villagers were pegged back by their hosts, after leading 3-1 at the break. Danny Earl scoring either side of a Louis Kirk effort.

Chris Bolder couldn’t name as many players as he did in the game against Goole during the week. He was able to name captain Niall Tilsley, who missed the Goole fixture due to illness.

The Villagers took the lead through Danny Earl. Last season’s top goal scorer was on hand to leap at the back post to head in a well delivered corner from Adam Bolder.

The Villagers would double their lead. Good play down the left-hand side from Josh Morrall and Omar Sanyang allowed Morrall to cross into the box. The Wakefield defence didn’t deal with the cross well and Louis Kirk picked the ball up. Kirk drilled a low effort that squirmed under the Wakefield keeper.

The hosts would pull one back. The hosts were awarded a penalty when their forward was fouled in the area. Billy Mole stepped up and scored.

It was an instant response from the Villagers, who would reestablish their two-goal cushion. Danny Earl capitalised on an indecisive Wakefield defender to advance on goal. Earl took the ball round the on-rushing goalkeeper before finishing.

Chris Bolder made several changes at the break.

The hosts pulled one back when the Villagers were sloppy with possession. This allowed the Wakefield attacker to advance before finishing past Douglas.

The hosts would level when Mason Rubie was fed the ball in the area, and he finished from an angle past Douglas.

After the game Chris Bolder gave his thoughts, “it was a really good work out for us, we’ve learnt an awful lot from that game. We’ve managed to get good minutes into players, and we’ve had the opportunity to bring in a lot of players who have been training with us and throw them together in the second half. It’s a fantastic set up here with a brilliant playing surface and a very good Wakefield side. Overall, it’s a positive workout for us”.
