Match Report
Golcar United VS
North Ferriby
North Ferriby FC wrapped up their 2022-23 campaign with a 5-2 win at Golcar. The Villagers ended their championship winning campaign with a fine performance, goals from Josh Morrall, Danny Earl, Tom Corner, and a brace from Danny Emerton made it an enjoyable afternoon in Huddersfield for the travelling supporters.
Chris Bolder made four changes from last Saturday’s win over Handsworth. In came Lewis Exall, T’Nique Fishley, Louis Kirk, and Danny Buttle.
The Villagers took the lead through an exceptional strike from Josh Morrall. The hosts cleared a throw in, but only as far as Louis Kirk. Kirk played the ball to Morrall who advanced with the ball unleashed his effort from range which flew into the corner.
The Villagers would double their lead through top scorer Danny Earl. Earl received the ball out on the right-hand side. Earl drove forward with the ball. Earl beat two Golcar defenders before hitting an effort that flew across goal and into the net.
The Villagers commanded a two-goal lead after the break. The hosts would fight back and pull a goal back through a good strike from Slater Barnes.
The hosts would then level the scores through Leon Henry.
The Villagers would then rally and show the character that has seen them crowned champions.
The Villagers would reestablish their lead when Tom Corner grabbed his sides third goal. Joel Shortland played a short pass to Corner who then fired in a shot from range that hit the post and went over the line.
The Villagers would then regain their two-goal advantage. Tom Corner flicked the ball onto Amir Berchil who then outmuscled a Golcar defender. Berchil hit a shot on a tight angle which deflected off the post. Tom Corner saw his strike saved but the ball fell to Danny Emerton who fired the ball home.
The Villagers would wrap up their five-star performance and season with a fifth goal.
Niall Tilsley hit an effort from a corner which was deflected into the path of Danny Emerton who finished from close range to grab his second of the game.
Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts after the game, “an excellent performance, we started off really well in the first half and played some nice stuff. We were a little bit sloppy at the start of the second half and to concede the two goals in the manner that we did was a little bit disappointing. It shows everything these lads are about to win the game comfortably”.
