North Ferriby VS Handsworth

North Ferriby FC received the NCEL Premier Divison title on the back of a 3-1 home win over Handsworth.

Chris Bolder’s side lifted the trophy in front of an impressive crowd of 744.

Bolder made just the one change from last Saturday’s title clinching win at Thackley, Tom Corner coming in for Tom Claisse. 

It took just seven minutes for the game to burst into life. Handsworth full back Thomas Cropper received a red card for a heavy tackle on Amir Berchil. From the resulting free kick, the Villagers would take the lead. Tom Corner flicked the ball impressively into the path of Danny East. East controlled smartly and took his defender out of the game. This allowed East to finish emphatically past Myles Wright in the Handsworth goal.

The Villagers took little time to double their lead. Josh Dennett played a chipped ball over the top of the defence. The ball found Danny Earl on the right-hand side of the area. Earl continued towards the byline and beat his defender. Earl then played the ball into the box, finishing Danny Emerton. Emerton saw his initial effort saved by Wright, before finishing off his second effort. 

The visitors would get on the scoresheet with their first real attempt at goal. Sam Smith sliding in and converting a low cross. 

The Villagers would wrap the game up in added time. Danny Clarke was played through and took the ball past Wright. Clarke unselfishly played the ball to Danny Earl who dribbled the ball into the goal. 

The celebrations could then begin with Niall Tilsley lifting the NCEL Premier Division trophy aloft with Ferriby supporters greeting with approving applause. 

After the game, Chris Bolder shared his thoughts, “I’m delighted to get the win today, we can bemoan certain things from today’s performance but let’s not dwell on that and focus on all the positives. To finish the season at home with a victory, as well as being crowned champions is just rewards for all the players and all the people that are involved at this football club”.
