Match Report

Barton Town VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby FC’s long-awaited trip to Barton was well worth the wait. The Villagers left the south bank of the Humber with a 2-0 win. A perfect team performance ensured the Villagers bounced back from their last two disappointing defeats, especially Saturday’s defeat to Winterton.

Chris Bolder made two changes as he looked for a reaction from his side. In came Danny Buttle and Joel Shortland. Chris Bolder also included his brother Adam amongst the substitutes.

The Villagers took the lead when a Danny Emerton corner was delivered well. Danny Buttle met the cross and powered the ball, with his head, past Charlie Dixon.

The hosts thought they had levelled the scores just before the half was up. A corner was swung in, and the referee judged Lewis Exall was pushed as he came to claim the ball.

The Villagers looked to double their lead in the second half’s early stages. Another well delivered corner found Danny Buttle, who’s volley went over the goal.

Substitute Amir Berchil came inches away from making it two. A mazy run through the Barton defence gave him an opportunity to finish but his strike trickled just wide.

Berchil would find his goal when he picked up a loose ball and again ran at the Barton defence. He was nearly fouled in the area but kept his balance and finished really well to secure the three points.

The Villagers gave their fantastic travelling support, who travelled in good numbers, plenty to cheer about at the end of the game, as they expertly saw the game out.

After the game Chris Bolder shared his thoughts, “when we’re in the middle of a mini blip, it is important to come to a difficult place tonight and win it in the manner that we did, we saw a different side to us tonight and it wasn’t the prettiest game of football. The lads dug in ever so well and every member of the squad stood up tonight and was counted for.”
