Match Report
Hemsworth Miners Welfare VS
North Ferriby
North Ferriby FC defeated Hemsworth 4-2 on Saturday. The Villagers got off to a hot start and commanded a 4-0 lead at the break. Two second half goals from the hosts made it a closer affair, but Chris Bolder’s side hung on for the three points.
The victory over Hemsworth ensured an eleventh straight victory for the Villagers.
Chris Bolder made one change from his side’s victory over Silsden last weekend, Amir Berchil coming in for Tom Corner.
The Villagers took four minutes to take the lead. Good play down the right-hand side gave Josh Dennett the chance to cross the ball. Danny Earl met the ball and glanced a header into the goal.
Hemsworth goalkeeper Ally Hughes made a good save from Ferriby captain Niall Tilsley. The danger was not cleared, and Danny Emerton crossed the ball into the box and found Josh Dennett. Dennett hit an effort that looped over Hughes to double his sides advantage.
It would be three when good footwork from Amir Berchil allowed him to find T’Nique Fishley out wide. Fishley found Danny Emerton who put the ball in the area and found Danny Earl who swept the ball past Hughes.
The Villagers would get their fourth goal of the half through Amir Berchil. Berchil picked up the ball at the edge of the area before guiding the ball into the back of the net.
The hosts made the scoreline closer in the second half with second half efforts from Jakob Hebda and Harry Viggars. The Villagers held on and avoided a Hemsworth come backs.
Chris Bolder’s thoughts after the game, “we just need to look after ourselves, for us to come away with the three points was our objective today, against a good side with a very good home record, for us to dispatch them like we did in the first half was impressive. Of course, second half we did let our standards drop a little bit and we conceded two goals that will hurt us. You have to focus on the good things and for us to come here and win 4-2 against a good side is pleasing”.
