Emley AFC VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby FC came out winners in their top of the table clash with Emley in which Chris Bolder’s side battled their way towards a 3-1 victory.

Bolder made one change from last weekend’s victory over Golcar, Danny Earl replacing Danny Buttle. New signing Josh Morrall was included in the match day squad for the first time.

The Villagers made a bright start to the contest, Josh Whiteley went close with a low strike and Bolder’s side would soon open the scoring. A long throw into the box from Josh Dennett caused Emley problems and up rose captain Niall Tilsley who headed past Declan Lambton.

The hosts then started to get more into the game. The Villagers continued to repel their advances, but the scores would soon be level. A corner wasn’t dealt with, and this allowed Rikki Paylor to fire in past Exall.

The Villagers looked to retake the lead in the second half. Danny Earl knicked in on a misplaced pass and advanced towards the goal, Earl was one on one with Lambton but the goalkeeper saved Earl’s effort and the ball was clears to safety.

Josh Whiteley went close again as he volleyed a first time effort just over the bar.

The Villagers had to show their defensive prowess and passed the test as Levi Tarbotton heroically blocked an Emley shot that looked goal bound.

The Villagers would re-take the lead through Oli Donald. Josh Dennett unleashed another long throw into the box and Donald stooped to head past Lambton.

The Villagers continued to defend superbly as they continued to deal with Emley’s numerous crosses into the Ferriby box.

The Villagers would ensure their victory in stoppage time. A poor kick out from Lambton was intercepted by Danny East. East’s forward pass wasn’t controlled by the Emley left back and the ball bounced in the direction of Danny Clarke who drove on towards goal and expertly lifted his shot over Lambton.

North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts of the game; “We said before the game that it is easy to get caught up in the magnitude of this game, but for us, we approach it the same as we would any other game. We have an objective, whichever team we play against that objective is to do everything we can to get a result and that’s what we did today. It wasn’t pretty and conditions were difficult, they maybe edged it from a footballing point of view, but we defended our box exceptionally well today and I’m really pleased”.
