Match Report

North Ferriby VS Armthorpe Welfare

North Ferriby beat Armthorpe Welfare 4-0 at the Dransfield stadium. This result ensured it was back-to-back

4-0 victories, having beaten Rossington by the same score line during the week.

Chris Bolder made two changes to that side. In came Adam Bolder for the injured Joel Shortland and Jamie Forrester replaced the suspended Louis Kirk.

The Villagers needed to be patient to break their visitors resolve. The Villagers picked up where they left off from Tuesday night and controlled the game early on. They had chances to break the deadlock. Jamie Forrester sent in a free kick delivery that evaded everyone. Josh Whiteley saw a curling shot go just wide of the post. Whiteley then went close again. Good work from Adam Bolder allowed him to cross the ball and find the Ferriby striker. However, his header clipped the top of the bar. Danny Emerton then had a chance, but his effort was well saved by Armthorpe goalkeeper Tom Chambers.

The Villagers would get their reward for their good play and chances on the 40th minute. Levi Tarbotton beat both the Armthorpe left winger and then the left back to drive the ball into the Armthorpe box. He then picked out Danny East, who was in space, and he volleyed the ball into the top corner.

It took only a couple of minutes into the second half for the Villagers to double their lead. Danny East found himself with the ball on the right-hand side of the pitch inside the Ferriby half. He noticed Josh Whiteley making a run and lobbed the ball over the Armthorpe defence, allowing Whiteley to run onto the ball, out run the defence and slot the ball past Armthorpe keeper Chambers.

The duo would be involved with the third Villagers goal. East, again, had the ball on the right-hand side and crossed the ball into the box. Whiteley was there to head the ball into the goal to score his fourth goal in two games.

It was nearly four, but Oli Donald’s back post header was blocked before it could go in. It would soon be four, through Jamie Forrester. The midfielder received the ball at the edge of the area and had time and space to place the ball into the top corner of the goal.

North Ferriby assistant manager Paul Robson was asked about his thoughts of the game, “The same energy as Tuesday night and that is what we asked from the lads, we need to carry the momentum on into the next few games. Every player in squad today played a part. The pleasing thing today was the movement away from the ball to create the angles for the man in possession. The press was tremendous and that starts from the front players”.

Robson was asked about the scorer of two of the day’s goals, Josh Whiteley, “Josh has been superb, we have always said to him not to be concerned if the goals don’t come because it's all about the performance, that’s the main thing”. Robson was then asked about his sides impressive defence, “Clean sheets are huge, Tillo (Niall Tilsley) and Oli (Donald) have a great partnership and Levi for the first goal today was tremendous to create something out of nothing for the goal and Robbie Start was superb yet again.
