Ollerton Town VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby FC produced an impressive away performance to wrap up a 3-0 win at Ollerton Town. A double from Oli Donald and a Tom Corner goal see the Villagers keep the pressure on league leaders Hallam.

The Villagers took only five minutes to open the scoring. Brilliant work on the right hand side by Levi Tarbotton resulted in the Ferriby defender getting fouled. Danny Emerton sent in the resulting free kick which found its way to Oli Donald to head the ball past Ollerton goalkeeper Marcus Coombs.

The hosts had a chance to pull level when an Ollie Grady corner was sent in and found Ollerton skipper Sam Stretton who headed his effort over from close range.

Josh Whiteley came close when he met a Danny Emerton cross with his head, but Coombs was able to bat the ball away and gather on the second attempt.

It would be Oli Donald who made it two, with his second goal of the game. It came from another free kick, again sent in by Emerton. The ball evaded all and was left by Coombs and this allowed Donald to squeeze the ball home at the back post to double the Villagers lead.

It could have been three soon after. A free kick in the middle of the park was sent into the box and an outstretched Rich Medcalf couldn’t guide his effort home, as the ball fell harmlessly wide.

The second half was a scrappy affair to begin with. The first real opportunity of the half came when a shot from Josh Whiteley was deflected out for a corner. The resulting corner was put in the goal by Oli Donald. However, the centre half was denied a hat trick through the referee giving an Ollerton free kick. Donald went close again when he headed over from a Danny East free kick.

The hosts were reduced to ten men for ten minutes when their captain Sam Stretton was sin binned for dissent. This didn’t put the hosts off and they were awarded a penalty when Jordan Douglas tripped up Jacques Etia. Etia stepped up but his effort was saved by Jordan Douglas diving to his right.

The game would be wrapped up five minutes from time. A poor pass out by Marcus Coombs fell to Louis Kirk. Kirk passed the ball to Danny Buttle who saw his shot hit the post. The ball bounced out to Tom Corner who calmly placed the ball in the goal to secure a big three points for Chris Bolder’s men.

North Ferriby FC boss Chris Bolder summed up his thoughts after the game, “3-0, clean sheet it’s pleasing. From a football spectacle point of view, it wasn’t the prettiest game but you don’t always have it your own way and every single game is different. We’d love to be able to get the ball down and play our usual style of football but today it wasn’t to be. The conditions meant it was hard for us to get the ball down, it was a little pinball at times. Ultimately our quality shone through, through our deliveries, movements and headers to get our goals today”.
