Match Report:

Parkgate VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby FC dropped more vital points on the road with a 1-1 draw at Parkgate. It started promising for the Villagers with a Levi Tarbotton goal putting them one up at the half. A second half goal from Frederick Tracey meant the Villagers left South Yorkshire with a point and three points behind leaders Hallam.

Chris Bolder made changes to the starting eleven that started in the 4-0 win over Swallownest. Oliver Kemp, Jackson Jowett, and Jamie Forrester returned to the staring eleven with the welcomed return of Joel Shortland to the bench, after a long absence through injury.

The Villagers dominated possession in the early stages of the first half and had two opportunities through Jamie Forrester. First, an effort that went of the bar. Secondly, an effort that was saved by Parkgate keeper Jordan Greaves.

The deadlock was broken when the Villagers got a corner on the left-hand side. The corner was taken by Adam Bolder who floated the ball across and past the front post, middle of the box and ended up being met by Levi Tarbotton sliding in from the back post to put the Villagers ahead.

Jordan Douglas was called upon before the half was up and produced a great save from Parkgate captain Elliott Simpson. A shot that was destined for the top corner.

The hosts thought they had scored before the half was over. A corner was taken and was caught by the wind and was cleared on the back post by Robbie Start. The hosts thought the ball had gone over the line, but the referee did not agree.

The second half’s first chance came through Danny East, who unleashed a shot, but saw his effort hit the bar.

The scores would be level on the 65th minute. The Villagers gave the ball away and Parkgate countered. After good team player a low cross across the goal from the left-hand side of the box allowed an easy tap in for Parkgate top scorer Frederick Tracey.

The Villagers couldn’t regroup and find the match winner to give them the vital three points in their quest to get back to the tables summit.

North Ferriby boss Chris Bolder was asked to discuss his thoughts on the result, “It was a hugely frustrating afternoon. First half, we controlled the ball, but we lacked any kind of penetration really. We had some urgency a handful of times. We didn’t create enough clear-cut chances. We looked leggy in the second half, we stopped passing the ball which then meant we were a little bit aimless. We’re in possession and then five second later it’s in the back of our net”.

When asked about how his side can bounce back from the draw, Bolder went on to say, “I thought we had started to turn the corner after our little blip. We had a positive result at Harrogate and the comprehensive home win last week. We’ve had a couple of amazing training sessions this week. The lads have been on fire, and I was really looking forward to today’s game.
