North Ferriby VS Hull City

FRIENDLY FIXTURE

North Ferriby 2 Hull City Under 23 Academy 3

Mark Chestney at the Dransfield Stadium

Hull City Academy beat North Ferriby 3-2 in a mid season friendly with neither side having not played at the weekend but with both having important games ahead of them. Chris Bolder’s side take on league leaders Hallam on Saturday so it was good to get some minutes into the legs of the players ahead of the showdown.

Both sides tried to get on top in the early stages but defences cancelled each other out with very few chances created with the deadlock not broken until just before the half hour. The only clear cut chance prior to the first goal came on 16 minutes when Will Jarvis weaved his way through the Ferriby defence for his cross to be met by Tom Nixon but Ferriby cleared the danger.

That opening goal came after great control by City striker Josh Hinds, who made his senior debut against Bournemouth in August, who placed the ball into the path of Jarvis. The winger placed a shot past Jordan Douglas to give the visitors an early lead.

Ferriby hit back but not until five minutes from the break when Josh Whiteley got onto a great ball through only for his fierce low drive to hit the post and bounce out. Danny Emerton was racing towards the goal and was on hand to fire a shot into the corner past City keeper Harry Fisk for a 1-1 half-time score line.

There were wholesale changes for Ferriby at the break with Adam Bolder rolling back the years for the Villagers as the 41 year old dominated the midfield as he had in years gone by with Ferriby, Derby County and Hull City. Bolder won the ball in midfield before placing a great ball to debutant Jackson Jowett who fired in a low shot for a 2-1 lead.

It should have been 3-1 three minutes later when Bolder was again involved again as he fed Harvey Carew for a Josh Whiteley shot which should have hit the back of the net but it went wide. Josh Dennett then should have added another but for some good goalkeeping by Fisk.

Two goals in three minutes sent the game the Tigers way when on 75 minutes the ball was lost by Rinalds Jurkstis on the edge of his own area. The ball was quickly sent up the field for Jarvis to slide the ball past Douglas before McCauley Snellgrove added a third for the win.
