Hall Road Rangers VS North Ferriby

Hall Road Rangers 1 North Ferriby 1

Ash Walker at Haworth Park

The Villagers were looking to get back to winning ways after two draws but it wasn’t to be as they were held by local rivals Hall Road Rangers. Unfortunately they had to do it the hard way when they lost skipper Niall Tilsley midway through the first half for a second bookable offence and also being 1-0 down.

It was the Villagers who made the better start to the game and put early pressure on the hosts. Good work down the left-hand side from the Villagers threatened the hosts and put Rangers keeper Jodi Barford under pressure early but the Villagers failed to create any clear cut chances.

Hall Road took the lead in the eighth minute when former Villager Sam Robinson headed home a free kick after a foul on the left hand side. It came from Tilsley who subsequently earned himself a yellow card for the challenge and would certainly be walking a thin line.

From that moment North Ferriby went on the attack and tried to pull level having plenty of opportunities to put the ball in the net, especially from numerous corners. Danny East came closest, but a save from Barford denied him from equalising this after good work from the right-hand side by Liam Nelthorpe in particular.

Skipper Niall Tilsley came close from a corner, but his header went wide of the post as the Villagers continued to dominate the game but again couldn’t get the ball in the net. The game then turned in Rangers favour when Tilsley was given a second booking for a challenge and was sent off to leave Ferriby down to ten men.

Half-time saw the visitors bring on Josh Dennett to replace the injured Liam Nelthorpe as they changed their system and played the second half with three at the back with Dennett slotting in next to Levi Tarbotton and Matty Plummer. It saw more freedom in midfield and it eventually led to an equaliser.

The Villagers had the first chance of the second half as Danny East was slotted through on an angle as Barford came rushing out to close the attacker. East jumped over the on-rushing goalkeeper, but the ball fell to him on a tight angle and he sent his effort over the bar.

Ferriby were forced into their final substitution as Matty Plummer went down injured with Iwan Heeley joining the back three. It was then the visitors levelled in the 59th minute with the ball was sent through for Jamie Forrester and the midfielder placed an exceptional finish past Barford and into the opposite corner.

The referee indicated 3 minutes to be added at the end with the Villagers pushing hard and had a couple of corners but these ultimately came to nothing.  It was the hosts who had the best chance to win the game at the end when a great touch from Robinson allowed him to set up his strike partner Chris Spinks but his low effort was saved by Exall.
