Preview Report:
Newton Aycliffe VS
North Ferriby
North Ferriby FC travel to Newton Aycliffe on Saturday, in their last game before Christmas.
The Villagers returned to action after a weather induced break. Chris Bolder’s side blew off the cobwebs with a 2-0 home victory over Brighouse. Bolder spoke about the game, “We started the game really well, I thought we dominated proceedings in the first half. We created some good opportunities and we looked a threat in their box. Second half, the wind picked up and they changed their system a little bit and took the game to us and we rode our luck. We needed the fortune of them hitting the post and bar and Tom (Jackson) making a big save”.
Chris Bolder was able to recall a few players from the injury list this past weekend. Tom Jackson and Louis Kirk made their return to action. Bolder spoke about their return, “both players have been out for lengthy periods, for us to get Louis back on the pitch and him to come through it was a real plus for us today. Tom makes a big save at the end and I thought his overall performance was a good one”.
Like The Villagers, Newton Aycliffe joined the divison in the summer. The Durham based side won the Northern League. The two sides met on the opening day, Bolder’s side ran out 4-1 winners. Newton Aycliffe made a slow start to the campaign but have picked up of late and now sit in 9th place. They have won their last four league games.
