North Ferriby VS
Belper Town
North Ferriby FC return to league action on Tuesday as they face Belper Town.
The Villagers were victorious in their FA cup game at Liversedge on Saturday. Chris Bolder’s side made history as they reach the FA Cup first qualifying round for the first time since reforming in 2019.
Bolder spoke with pride after his sides 1-0 victory. “It was a pleasing performance in terms of our application. Our will to defend our goal, our energy levels to stop our opponents' creating opportunities is pleasing at the minute”.
The goal came from Tom Corner. Corner who has been with the club since its reformation scored his 50th goal for the club, the first player to do so. Chris Bolder spoke about his number nine, “when Tom gets in those positions he delivers. It’s important that we utilise player strength and when we get Tom in between the goalmouth that is where he is at his most dangerous.
Belper, like the Villagers, are new to the division. However, they came down from the Northern Premier League. The Derbyshire based side finished bottom of the league. Belper have a made a fine start to life in the Division One East and currently sit top of the early league table.
Bolder spoke about the challenge his side face, “we will respect them, but we are on our home turf. We’ve got a lot of tired bodies, so the squad is going to have to come to the fore”.
