Preview Report:
North Ferriby VS
Eccleshill United
North Ferriby FC host Eccleshill on Tuesday night. The Villagers will look to maintain their five-point advantage at the top of the table and back up their last two victories.
The Villagers scored their latest victory at Knaresborough on Saturday. A cagey first half meant both sides went into the break on level terms. An excellent performance in the second half put the Villagers in the driving seat and ensured they left North Yorkshire with a 3-0 victory.
When asked to comment on Saturday’s game, as well as last week’s win at Barton, Chris Bolder said, “It was great to get back to winning ways against Barton and Knaresborough after a disappointing result and performance against Winterton. Two tough away fixtures against teams who have shown they can be a formidable side. We showed excellent commitment and desire in both games and handled the conditions of the games really well. We have kept two clean sheets in these games too which was important to get back to these foundations”.
The Villagers were meant to host Eccleshill back in December, but a frozen pitch caused the game to be postponed.
Eccleshill currently sit in 16th place in the table. The Bradford based outfit produced an impressive comeback on the weekend to earn a draw against Garforth. Ryan Toulson’s side found themselves 2-0 down with just six minutes remaining. However, two late goals earned them a share of the spoils. Eccleshill had a good run in the FA Vase this season, they were the last representative of the NCEL. They were knocked out last month at the hands of Atherstone. T’Nique Fishley was the hero when the two sides met back in August. The Villagers had gone two goals up, but an Eccleshill fight back looked to have earned them a draw. Up stepped Fishley who headed home the winner. When asked about this week's fixture and squad selection, Bolder said, “We have looked a little light squad wise in the last couple of games too due to injuries and availability but hopefully we will be boosted by the return of Tom Corner and Danny Earl on Tuesday and then Tom Claisse on the Saturday”.
